The academic program at Vista del Lago is organized into four career pathways. Students initially receive instruction in the required core areas of English, mathematics, science, and social science, as well as introductory career pathway courses. Beginning in their first year, students select a career pathway and are offered a variety of elective courses in their selected pathways. Our goal is to create four schools-within-a-school, we created the personalization aspect of the Breaking Ranks and also characteristic seven of Aiming High. The schools-within-a-school tie the core curriculum into the studentâs chosen career pathways making the content more challenging, and relevant to the studentsâ lives. The students are expected to maintain the same rigorous academic material along with mastering their chosen pathway. Technology is integrated into each of the pathways in numerous ways, providing high quality instruction.Vista del Lago has four pathways: Music, Art, Animation, Stage, Technician (MAAST), Pre-Engineering, Health Careers, and Liberal Arts. Each pathway will be following a school-within-a-school concept where students specialize in their interests while progressing toward their high school diplomas.
