Polaris is an unincorporated community in Nevada County, California. It lies at an elevation of 5695 feet (1736 m). Polaris was established on the Central Pacific Railroad line in 1867, 2.5 miles (4.0Â km) east-northeast of Truckee.
The Polaris post office operated from 1901 to 1923.
