College of the Muscogee Nation (CMN) is a public two-year American Indian tribal college, located in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, the capital of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

The College of the Muscogee Nation is the institution of higher education for the Muscogee Creek Nation emphasizing native culture, values, language, and self-determination. The College will provide a positive learning environment for tribal and non-tribal students as citizens of a tribal and global society supported by teaching excellence and will offer exemplary academic programs that meet student, tribal, and societal needs. Through instructional quality and visionary leadership, the College of the Muscogee Nation will encourage lifelong learners, for personal growth, professional development, and intellectual advancement.
History
It was established in 2004 by an act of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council. On November 7, 2009 Muscogee (Creek) citizens voted in support of the College of the Muscogee Nation becoming a constitutional college. Passage of the referendum resulted in the College Board of Regents becoming Article XIII in the Constitution of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
The college is member of the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, and was designated as a 1994 Land-Grant institution in the 2014 Farm Bill.
CMN was granted Initial Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission in November, 2016.
Governance
The Board of Regents is the governing board of the College of the Muscogee Nation, guaranteed by the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Constitution and in the College Charter. The CMN's governance consists of a five-member board of regents of Muscogee citizens that meet monthly. Board members are nominated by the Principal Chief and approved by the National Council.
Programs
The College of the Muscogee Nation offers associate degrees in Native American Studies, tribal services, gaming, and police science, as well as certificate programs in gaming and Mvskoke language.
The CMN offers general education and Tribal-specific courses. CMN students pursue associate degrees in:
- Gaming â€" study of Tribal gaming, American Indian gaming regulations, and managerial techniques of gaming operations for employment in Tribal gaming.
- Tribal Services â€" study of Indian land issues, project management, and grant writing, preparing for employment in Tribal government
- Police Science â€" study of Tribal law, Tribal courts, and the complexities of federal Indian law for employment in Tribal law enforcement
- Native American Studies with specializations in Mvskoke studies and Mvskoke language.
CMN students pursue certificate programs in:
- Mvskoke Language, and
- Gaming.
Campus
The college is located on a 32-acre campus on Loop 56 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Included on campus is the educational and administrative facility, student housing, a Student Center, and cultural community garden.
